Fang Jin, Ph.D. Assistant Professor

Fang Jin joined George Washington University in the Fall of 2020. Before that, she has been worked for the Department of Computer Science at Texas Tech University since January of 2017. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech in 2016. She was supervised by Dr. Naren Ramakrishnan in the Discovery Analytics Center. She has a broad interest in Deep Learning, Machine Learning and Data Mining. She is especially interested in Explainable AI (XAI), which discloses the decision making process of complex neural networks.


Zhou Yang, Ph.D. Student

Zhou Yang is now a Ph.D. candidate at George Washing University. His interests lie in machine learning and deep learning, with special interests in explainable AI (XAI) and deep learning theory. Related research projects include explainable AI theories and explaining the representation power of neural networks.


Muzhe Guo, Ph.D. Student

Muzhe Guo is a Ph.D. candidate in Statistics at George Washington University. He received his M.S. degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2020, and received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Wuhan University, China in 2018. His research interests include the interpretation of deep reinforcement learning, NLP, question-answering, and statistical models.


Juntao Su, Ph.D. Student

Juntao Su received his bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at Sichuan University (China) in 2015, and he graduated from George Washington University with a master's degree in Finance in 2017. He started to pursue his PhD degree in Statistics at George Washington University in Fall 2020. He has a great interest in Image interpretation, especially in the application of medical images and adversarial defense.


Kehan Sui (Vikki), Ph.D. Student

Vikki received her B.S degree in Wake Forest University majoring in Mathematics and got the MA in Statistics, MS in Computer Science degress at Columbia University. She started her Ph.D. study in 2021, and her research interest is Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and the Interpretation on Images.


Dexiu Ma, Graduate Student

Dexiu Ma is a graduate student at George Washington University, majoring in statistics. He graduated from University of California Santa Barbara with a bachelor's of science degree in Financial Mathematics and Statistics in 2019. He worked as a data analyst at Lenovo (China) before starting the master's degree in Sept 2021. He is greatly interested in the latest most advanced Deep Learning models and their applications.


Yuang Zhang, Graduate Student

Yuang Zhang is a graduate student at George Washington University majoring in Computer Science. He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology at the Beijing University of Technology (China) in 2021. He used to work at Baidu (China)'s Knowledge Graph Department as an intern researcher. He is interested in Natural Language Processing and deep learning, especially in explaining why deep learning works for Natural Language Processing.


Long Nguyen, Ph.D. Student

Long received his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology at the President University (Indonesia) in 2005 and then his Master's degree in Computer Science at Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 2009. He had worked over 10 years in software industry in different countries (such as Singapore, Vietnam, and Italy). He has a great interest in data analytics especially regarding to text and social network data. He recieved his PhD degree in 2020 and is currently an assistant professor of computer science and data science at the School of Applied Computational Sciences in Meharry Medical College.


Shunyan Luo, Ph.D. Student

Shunyan received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2013 and his Master's and Doctor's degree in Statistics at the George Washington University in 2015 and 2022 respectively. He has a great interest in explainable AI, generative modeling in computer vision and audio. He worked as a Research Scientist at Amazon after graduation.


Hongfei Du, Ph.D. Student

Hongfei received his bachelor's degree in Statistics in 2021 at the National University of Singapore and he received his master's and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics at George Washington University. His research area is uncertainty quantification of deep learning models, adversarial attack detection, and deep learning in computer vision. He is now working at Capital One Financial Corporation and his role is a quantitative analyst.


Hashim Abu-gellban, Ph.D. Student

Mr. Abu-gellban received his second Master's degree in Computer Science at New Mexico State University in 2016. He had worked in the Central Bank of Jordan for more than 10 years. Currently, Mr. Abu-gellban is the programmer analyst of Support Operations for Academic Retention at Texas Tech University since July 2017. Recently, he won the Excellence in IT Innovation Award from the Office of the Chief Information Officer. He started to pursue a PhD degree in Fall 2018 and received his PhD degree in 2021. He has a great interest in machine learning and its application to medical science.


Rashmi Kesidi, Graduate Student

Rashmi is a graduate student at Texas Tech University, majoring in Computer Science. She graduated from Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science(India) with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and engineering in 2017. She had worked over 1 year as a data analyst before starting to pursue master's degree in Fall 2018.She has interest in big data analytics , application development and text mining in social media context.


Vinay Jayachandra, Graduate Student

Vinay is a graduate student at Texas Tech University, majoring in Computer Science. He graduated from Visvesvaraya Technological University (India) with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and engineering in 2016. He had worked over 2 years as a game developer before starting to pursue a master's degree in Aug 2018. He has a great interest in machine learning and its application to medical imaging services.


Opeyemi Openiyi, Undergraduate Student

Opeyemi Openiyi is a senior at Texas Tech University, majoring in Computer Science, who has an avid interest in machine learning. He is now a software engineer in Machine Learning at JPMorgan Chase.


Joshua Stuve, Undergraduate Student

Joshua is a senior at Texas Tech University, majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics and anticipating graduation being Spring 2018. After graduation, he plans to work in Software Development. He has interest in data analytics and application development.


Andrew Salopek, Undergraduate Student

Andrew is a graduating senior (Dec 2017) majoring in computer science and minoring in mathematics. After graduation, he plans to work in the software industry. Recently, he has studied in Paraguay and Puerto Rico. He has interest in big data analytics and visualizations.


Siyuan Jiang, Undergraduate Student

Siyuan Jiang is an exchanged senior at Texas Tech University, majoring in Computer Science. After graduation, he plans to apply to the higher education programme. He has interests in data analytics, data mining and machine learning.
